Empty?....

Some people have the world at their fingertips. They are surrounded by ease and luxury while others are in the grip of poverty surrounded by pain & loss. Isn't it interesting that both can find themselves empty?

One can lead an empire, shape the thoughts of men, or innovate with genius but still be empty. One can have all her heart desires and experience no lack of material provision but still be empty. One can have all the drugs his veins can manage and in his euphoric state still find himself empty. A child can accomplish much, have the favor of her parents, and be a model for her peers but still be empty.

A man can sit in his colossal house surrounded by friends & acquaintances while numbing his conscience with liquor because deep inside he's empty. A star can sing to stadiums of adoring fans and when she walks backstage smile desperately to hide the fact that she is empty. The intelligent man can cloak his emptiness in knowledge and yet he tires of the masquerade as he searches in vain for that which might truly fill his empty void.

Some lash out in anger, others scream in silence, and so many more try desperately to ignore the gnawing insidious echo of emptiness that plays like a song on repeat no matter the circumstance. Others try to drown out the emptiness with great accomplishments, the praise of men, or novel pursuits. Nevertheless, they all find themselves unable to outrun, outmaneuver, or outlast emptinesses pursuit.

How can it be that so many are empty? What does it mean to be empty? To be empty is to know what life is without God. It's to know no lasting peace. It's to know no rest from emptinesses shadow. It's to have a soul void of life everlasting. It's to be dead though alive.

“Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself;

For emptiness will be his reward." Job 15:31

All men are born of blood but God desires for all men to be born again. Not born again of flesh and blood but of the spirit.

Jesus answered him 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.'

John 3: 3-7

Only God can take the empty soul, those dead in spirit, and give their soul everlasting life. No amount of wealth, positive vibes, accomplishments, spiritual knowledge, devotion, or any other method can fill the empty void of the soul that knows not God save this one.....Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ longs to bring the dead in spirit to life and He alone can take one's emptiness and fill it! Then these souls that are no longer empty can be in a prison isolated but filled with purpose. They can be surrounded by chaos but have an unshakable peace. They can suffer great loss but be filled with hope. They can know tremendous accomplishment but find that it doesn't compare with the newfound contentment of their souls. They can be offered all that the world offers yet know a supernatural lasting joy that supersedes any happiness dependant on the temporal.

Are you empty? Friend you no longer need to be empty. Come to Him, trust only in Him, and be filled.

"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

John 4:13-14
