Israel...Do You Know What's Next?...

In light of the recent terrorist massacre in Israel and the breaking out of what may be World War III, have you ever stopped to consider the existence of Israel? For instance, how does a nation with a total population under 10 million and whose size is 6xs smaller than the state of New York have so many enemies? How is it that this little slice of land relative to the world has been the target of so much hate, violence, war, and bloodshed for millennia? Ultimately, how is it that the Jews still exist not just as a people but as a nation?

There can only be one answer. The answer is that the people of Israel were set apart from the beginning as a people and as a nation. They were set apart not by man but by the one true God and it is He alone that sustains them.

"For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth." Deuteronomy 7:6

I would suggest that what we are all seeing is the physical manifestation of a titanic spiritual war. This spiritual war is being waged by satan and his demonic hord to rid the world of the Jew, God's holy people, and everything that in any way represents the Lion of Judah.

To the discerning, it's crystal clear. Many of the same ancient enemies of Israel are still satan's primary vehicles to advance his pursuit to crush, terrorize, and destroy the Jews. However, many times throughout history God has allowed the enemies of Israel to be His rod of judgment against His people...

"I will send four kinds of destroyers against them,” declares the LORD, “the sword to kill and the dogs to drag away and the birds and the wild animals to devour and destroy.

I will make them abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth because of what Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah did in Jerusalem. “Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn for you? Who will stop to ask how you are? You have rejected me,” declares the LORD. “You keep on backsliding. So I will reach out and destroy you; I am tired of holding back. I will winnow them with a winnowing fork at the city gates of the land. I will bring bereavement and destruction on my people, for they have not changed their ways. I will make their widows more numerous than the sand of the sea. At midday I will bring a destroyer against the mothers of their young men; suddenly I will bring down on them anguish and terror. The mother of seven will grow faint and breathe her last. Her sun will set while it is still day; she will be disgraced and humiliated. I will put the survivors to the sword before their enemies,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 15: 3-9

Yet despite Israel's many enemies both physical and spiritual over the centuries and God's great discipline at times, He has remained faithful to keep her.

"Behold, all who are incensed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; those who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish. You shall seek those who contend with you, but you shall not find them; those who war against you shall be as nothing at all." Isaiah 41:11-12

The Babylonians took the people of Israel captive and dashed their babies "against the stones." Ps 137:8-9 But where is the great Babylonian empire today? The Egyptians Pharaohs and their world-dominating dynasties enslaved the Jews. Where are the Pharoahs and all their gods today? The Philistines harassed and sought to destroy Israel but where is their nation today? The Romans occupied Israel and brutally oppressed Israel but where is the great Roman empire and their Emporers today? The Nazis tried to eliminate the Jews and destroy all that they represented. Where is the III Reich now? The Russians tried to crush the Jews with their communist hammer and sickle. What of the USSR today?

Babylon is in ruins. The Pharaohs and Egypt's mighty empires are relics of history. The Philistines and their giants are like dust in the annuals of time. The Romans and their world empire collapsed. The Nazis were defeated and their wicked leader Hitler died a coward in a bunker. The USSR fell apart and the wall of communism fell down. None of these nations that stood against Israel still stand today.

"And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Gen 12:2-3

But, but, but.....Israel LIVES!! She lives and not all the power of her enemies, all the militaries of the centuries, all the gods of the empires, have been able to uproot her and render her no more. This my friends should encourage you that the God of Israel lives because Israel is forever!!

So what will happen next? I know that no matter what God will be faithful to Israel and Israel will always remain forever! Because it was out of this ancient land that God brought forth His Son, the Messiah. It's because of Jesus, the Messiah, that Israel and the world now can have peace with God. This is also why Israel has long been the primary target of satan and all his demons. Sure they will stop at nothing to use people, nations, armies, ideologies, false gods, and endless tactics to destroy Israel until Messiah comes again. Yet we who belong to God, know how the story ends...we WIN!!! Israel was, Isreal is, and Isreal will be.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deut 31:6
